Hi Folks,

Welcome to issue #2 of the Tozzer newsletter. Or should that be Peckerwood newsletter? In fact, who the hell are we anyway? Well, we're those strange blokes behind the Tozzer comic books (graphic novels, if we're trying to sound posh). Our books take the piss out of movies, celebrities and Hollywood in general. And for all you Americans out there, "taking the piss" means "making fun of". Please explain this phrase to the rest of your country, so the next time we cross the pond, people will know what the hell we're talking about.

San Diego Comic-Con

Talking of crossing the pond, we recently flew out to the San Diego Comic-Con, one of the biggest gatherings of geeks and nerds in the world. Obviously, we were right at home. Our books went down a storm, and our crazy British sense of humour was appreciated by all the Americans we spoke to, who scratched their heads and yawned loudly with excitement.

Naturally, our booth was always busy, and sales were brisk. Admittedly, this was entirely due to the presence of our gorgeous assistants, Samantha and Caitlin, who smiled sweetly at innocent passers-by, then swiped their wallets with ninja- like stealth. Also at the booth was Tozzer / Peckerwood colourist, Eric Erbes. Eric was our secret weapon, and he really was a demon salesman. We mean that quite literally - his forked tongue, glowing eyes and six inch horns drew in the customers like a particularly nasty outbreak of the plague.

Thanks to Sam, Caitlin and Eric, and to everyone who stopped by and had their wallet stolen. Same time next year, people!

Now, what's this Peckerwood of which we speak? You may have heard whispers of this upcoming series, or even caught glimpses of its weird and wonderful characters. Well, here's the skinny: Peckerwood is a new series of satirical graphic novels starring Tozzer, Rod and Hornie. Names sound familiar? They're the three main characters from the Tozzer books. Now they are in their early teens and trying to make it as (somewhat ageing) child actors, so they've come to Peckerwood, movie capital of the world.

You'll laugh. You'll cry. And then you'll laugh some more. Actually, you may not cry at all. I'm not sure why we wrote that. Maybe if someone steals your signed copy, or you trap your fingers in a door while reading it, that might induce a few tears, but to be honest you're probably safe from the whole weepy thing.

The first book in the series, Peckerwood: 24 Minutes, is a spoof of the TV show CSI. No, we jest! As you may have figured out (because this newsletter is only read by the most intelligent folk in the universe), 24 Minutes is a parody of a little-known show that we like to call 24.

Peckerwood: 24 Minutes is due out this October in the UK - if you buy it directly from us. If you want to buy it in book stores or comic shops, we're talking first half of 2008. Don't be sad - just come to one of the shows we attend and get a signed copy from the Tozzers themselves!

Great British Comics
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You guys read, right? And you're into comics? Then check out the slick, fascinating, and informative book Great British Comics, by the universally-respected amazingly talented writer-genius Paul Gravett. And yes, our main reason for lavishing such praise on Mr Gravett is because his book includes a page from Tozzer and the Invisible Lap Dancers. But seriously, check out the GBC website, then pick up a copy. It's an excellent read!

Brodie's Law Movie
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Finally, congratulations to our buddies over at Pulp Theatre. Their Brodie's Law comics are being turned into a gay porn romp by the producer of Ass Bandits 3, and we hear Vin Diesel may have a cameo. Ok, ok, we're lying again. The truth is Brodie's Law is being turned into a major motion picture, with no porno bits in it, by director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea).

Well done, guys. Brodie's Law is a thumpin' good read, and you deserve all your success. We're not even bitter. Much!
